Day trip to Monschau, just across the border of Belgium

Not very often but a few times a year, we drive all the way to Germany to do some grocery shopping. Why? Because a lot of household products are so much cheaper for us so we can save a lot of money by doing this. Of course, we do try to combine our shopping with a little day trip. To Monschau for example.

Just over the border of Germany, only a 2 hours drive from Antwerp, you’ll find Monschau. Very well known and loved by tourists in particular. A super charming, German village where you can enjoy some people watching. Or maybe have a drink in one of the lovely cafes. We took the Panoramaweg up to see one of the best views of the city

Monschau is not a very big village so it’s recommended to park your car just a bit further out on the big parking lot. Only €7 for a whole day or €2 per hour. As with every iconic place, Monschau get’s very crowded on the weekends, especially by noon. So around 1 pm, it was time for us to go and score some deals in Kaufland, the local supermarket.
